birth to being

At birth to Being,

I wholeheartedly believe in the power of the village. Through my experience as a certified birth/postpartum doula (and my firsthand experience as a new parent), I found a monumental gap in the quality of care for new parents as they entered and left the hospital. With birthing classes and OB visits emphasis on preparation for birth, I noticed a significant lack of education and support for what comes after. Birth to Being was born from this disparity, with my mission to help bridge the gap between hospital and home.

Through education and specialized care at your doorstep, I provide support for new parents all along this continuum of welcoming a new life, from pregnancy, to birth, and beyond.

Services

Birth

  • As your birth doula, I provide compassionate emotional, physical, and informational support to expectant parents throughout pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period. My goal is to create a positive and empowering experience, ensuring you feel confident, supported, and informed every step of your journey. Though my official label is as your ‘birth doula’, I see my role as a continuum of care that begins long before and after your active labor begins.

  • Your birth doula package includes:

    3 prenatal home visits before birth. During these visits we will discuss our mutual hopes, concerns and expectations around your delivery. During visits we will discuss (including but not limited to);

    • Labor preparation: education about the stages of labor and the birthing process, what to expect in the weeks and days leading up to your birth, individualized birth planning, strategies for pain management and mental preparation,

    • Postpartum preparation: Education on the postpartum period and how to prepare for the ‘fourth trimester’, Postpartum/lactation prep, infant care and education, what to expect when you arrive home

    • Logistical preparation: home organization, baby preparation, community support

    • OB/ Midwife visit: there is the option for me to attend an OB or midwife appointment to ensure continuity of care.

    Additional prenatal visits are available upon request

    Unlimited virtual support As soon as services are retained, I will be available by phone and text to answer any questions and/or concerns you may have. My hope is to help ease any concerns or anxieties regarding your pregnancy or birth, and to be the goal keeper between you and google, within my scope of practice as your doula.

    Available and will be “on-call” for your labor 24 hours a day, beginning three (3) weeks before the estimated due date (EDD). This window is subject to change should induction, or change in delivery date be required. I will provide early labor support as requested, including in your home. These visits do not count as one of your three prenatal visits.

I will help you utilize non-medical support and comfort techniques during you labor, as well as provide emotional, physical and technical support for your partner/support person. I will also help support you to make our own informed choices during labor and birth, and will remain with you until at least one to two hours after the baby/babies are born and help facilitate the initiation of breastfeeding. Should there be a need for further medical support for your baby, I will provide emotional support and education should you baby/babies need NICU support.
